About
My name is Glenn, I’m a cabinetmaker and carpenter by trade, and after thirty-six years in the game it was the perfect time to let my creative side make a name for itself. I went straight to an old passion of mine – picture framing. Trying to find suitable frames for photos and artwork I’d accumulated over the years and never being really satisfied with what was around I began making my own. This instantly took off with family, friends and colleagues who were very impressed with my ideas and creativity – most of the frames from scratch others being machined to a specific shape. For the past five years I’ve been making frames on the Northern Beaches where I live with my wife.
I strive to make my frames blend in with the photos, artwork, prints etc. I personally think it enhances the art and makes it bold and eye-catching. To be able to make a frame for someone that puts a smile on their face every time they look at it. Like a songwriter writing a song that makes people happy and everyone sings along to, what a great sense of achievement.
Australia has many beautiful timbers*. I have a range of acrylic paint colours that can be reproduced. Milk paint will achieve the same colour, but applies differently to each surface, so no two frames will look alike. Stained and clear finishes, well, no two pieces of timber are identical, therefore, you have the only one in the world.
‘One Of A Kind’
*For most of my frames I try to source pre-used timbers – in a small way to help reduce what goes into landfill and to save the trees …
